Hal
Brooks is a world musician.
A composer and producer, Hal has been performing,
studying, and teaching music for over twenty-five years, proficient in jazz,
classical, African music, Latin music, rhythm and blues, rock ‘n roll, country &
western, and folk music, both contemporary and traditional .
He is a fine singer and equally comfortable on piano or guitar. As a young
musician he won awards and recognition playing jazz bass; he has also performed
on drums, percussion, cello, tuba, sousaphone, and trumpet.
In May of 1995, Hal graduated Magna cum Laude from the prestigious Cornish
College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. He studied jazz with an
internationally recognized faculty including Dave Peck, Randy Halberstadt,
Julian Priester, Hadley Caliman, Jim Knapp and Dr. Peter Mack.
Upon graduating from Cornish, Hal worked as a pianist on cruise ships (believe
that!) and freelanced throughout Europe. In 1998 he settled in Miami with his
future wife, Tamara. They were married in 1999.lots
Currently Hal works teaching music at Hammocks Middle Community School, giving
expert private instruction for piano and guitar, and he performs regularly in
the Miami area.
Hal and Tammy live in Miami with lots of cats. When he has free time, Hal enjoys
traveling, reading, video games and collecting bruises on the area's many
mountain biking trails.
